AFTER 20 years working for the ‘man’ in senior management, new Gosford resident, Ian Dobbie has realised his dream of being his own boss and is on the path to his goal of financial independence opening the first Mr Rental franchise in the area.
The grand opening on May 25 marks the 14th store for New South Wales and the 68th store within Australia and New Zealand.
With a background in financial services and management Ian is well suited to starting his own business and selected the Mr Rental opportunity due to the solid returns the business model offered through the recurring revenue stream. His aim or the business is to break even within the first 12 months and open a second store in Wyong shortly after.
“I always wanted to be my own boss and have financial independence with a solid income stream and was committed to Mr Rental immediately after meeting with the team,” he said.
“The customer service and business philosophies fitted with where I wanted to be and the systems support and training allow independence to run your own business while still having the support and infrastructure of a large organisation.”

I have spent family holidays on the Central Coast for years – I love the coast, I love the lifestyle and I certainly love the people! I am incredibly happy that I am now able to settle here full time and be part of the local community. I am especially happy to be able to employ local people and aim to grow the store enough to support six team members.”
The Gosford Mr Rental store and showroom is located at 3 Watt Street Gosford, providing easy access to customers from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
“We supply fridges, TV’s, washers, dryers, sound systems, game consoles and even furniture within 24 hours and look after any repairs or issues with any of the appliances.” Ian said.
“The great thing about renting technology, such as computers, is that customers can always have the latest model with the option to upgrade at any time. It would cost a fortune if someone were to keep buying the latest computer model each year.”
