B

Blue Ray

The latest in technology, if you can imagine the laser beam reading 1 layer of information on a Compact Disc or 2 layers (picture and sound) on a Digital Video Disc, then picture 20 layers for Blue Ray for exceptional picture and audio quality. It also has 5 times the storage of a DVD. Blue Ray players can play CD and DVD’s.

C

CRT

Cathode Ray Tube, is the tube that provides the picture for the older style “box” televisions. Still an excellent quality picture.

Mr Rental’s all year round great value deals where you save money if you rent more than one product with us as a total deal.

Desktop PC

As it’s name states, it sits on a desk top! It is made up of a hard drive tower and a monitor.

F

Full HD Full High Definition

This is all about the number of dots on the screen to make up the picture. The more dots, the better the picture quality! Full HD has 1920 x 1080 dots (as an example, this is equivalent to 2 mega pixels in a digital camera).

Franchisor

This is the company that make sure your local Mr Rental store provides the best possible service and products to you.

Franchisee

This is the person who owns the local Mr Rental store.

H

HD High Definition

This is all about the number of dots on the screen to make up the picture. The more dots, the better the picture quality! HD has 1024 x 768 dots (as an example, this is equivalent to 0.7 mega pixels in a digital camera) or 1368 x 768 dots (as an example, this is equivalent to 1 mega pixel in a digital camera). Some Free to air TV stations now have HD channels and Foxtel now have some HD channels as well.

KLSC

The Mr Rental customer loyalty program called Keeping Life Simple. Customers earn points for every dollar of rent they pay and these points can be used to purchase gifts or towards payment of rent* or even the purchase of rental products. All with easy access online.

L

LED

TV Light Emitting Diode TV. This is still an LCD TV, but it backlit by LED lights and not the normal fluorescent lights.

LCD

Liquid Crystal Display. These panels have a brighter picture in the daytime. They are better for gaming.

Laptop

A personal computer made small enough to sit on your laptop. It has the hard drive, monitor and keyboard all in one. Also know as a Notebook computer.

M

Mobile Representative

This is the person who not just delivers the rental appliances to you, but they install them and give you a demonstration on how they work. They will also come back and help you if you have any problems

N

Netbook

An even smaller personal computer that is predominantly made for surfing the internet and wireless communication.

P

PVR

Personal Video Recorder. Similar to a video recorder, but records in digital format on to a hard drive.

Plasma

Plasma uses a gas called phosphorous and gives a more natural colour so is better for movies. With the technology advances in LCD, there is not much difference between Plasma and LCD.

PC

Personal Computer, it may be a desk top, laptop, tablet PC or netbook. It’s simply a computer made for personal use!

S

Set-top box

A tuner to allow analogue televisions (SD) to pick up digital signals (HD). Latest models now have the HD tuner inbuilt.

Service Area

As Mr Rental is a franchise, each local Mr Rental store owner (Franchisee) owns a specific territory. If you move out of that area, they will simply transfer you to your nearest store with no disruption to you! They will even move your rental appliances for free if you give them a call in advance (and distance permitting!).

Security Bond

Just as you would imagine paying for a rental property or the hire of car, you could be asked to pay a Security Bond to be held for the duration of your rental agreement. This will be refunded on return of the appliances in good working order.

SD

Standard Definition. 720 x 576. Free to air TV and Foxtel transmit on Standard Definition.
